    373 gears good?

Would 3.73 gears be good for my A4 trans am? I already have the A4 performance axle with the 3.23 . (door code GU5) Would it be worth me getting the 3.73 since i already have the 3.23? What gains will I see and will I "feel" a difference?

You'll feel a slight difference. But I would swap out the whole rear for a ford 9".

i went from the 10 bolt 2.73 gear to a 12 bolt moser 3.73 gear

    2.73 2.002 60 8.4 1/8 23.30mpg highway 70mph
    3.73 1.88 60 8.1 1/8 20.78mpg highway 65mph

if you are worried about mph, go 65 your car will get better gas mileage, numbers don't lie

I second this, Save your money and get a 9" or 12 bolt (preferably a 9") for the $500 (gears, rebuild kit, oil, gasket, labor) you will spend on the gear swap, you'll be 1/4 of the way to a new and 10X better rearend. I wish I would have done this.
I am now saving for the 9".

Your gas MPG seem awful low. My '98 with 2.73 would get over 27 MPG, but the car had only a lid. You must have a cam or more? With our '00 6 spd, I checked my 12.99 1/4 run, it showed an 8.44 1/8th. I got 27.6 and 28.4 MPG @ 75 or so MPH with AC on when needed this past May, all I have is headers and a lid.
I always wanted to swap some 3.73s in my '98, I think that would be a great gear. Unlike others, both my Trans Ams have never had any rear diff problems. I am glad GM spent the $$$ on the engine rather than the differential.

I went from 3.23 to 3.73 and really didn't feel much of a difference. Maybe I was expecting too much, but I wasn't impressed with the improvement.

with 373's you can expect a 8.10 1/8 mile time rather than an average stock 8.90

i think this a huge improvment,
quarter mile times wont be as derrastic of an imrpovment.

9"- 4.10-3500 Stall It will feel like a whole different car. Can't say gas mileage is all that hot but it's still better than my brothers stock 16 mpg SUV so I won't complain especially highway. Combined so far even with stall gear cam untuned and all mods I still manage roughly 20-22 mpg depending on how much I play. I can watch the hand drop if I mash it though.
My Toy 00 Z28 1SC A4 - MS3 cam with supporting valvetrain, Milled LS6 heads, LS7 lifters, , ARP rod and mains, All free mods, pacesetters, True duals, moser 9 with 4.11's and Detroit Locker, Vig 3600 tuned, tubular SFC,adj PHR, LCA, adj TA, PHR reloc, LCA reloc. all with poly bushings, ZR1's and Nitto DR's (315).

X2, I am going back to the stock 3.23s and just putting in a stall....All my top end went away and low end did not change much....
