    3.73 Gears

I am new to this forum so I hope I can get some answers.
I have a 99 T/A I bought new, I put a magnaflow exhaust and a ram air hood and air box on which I bought from Suncoast(which I am very happy with the looks).I also put a set of 17in. Zr1 wheels and tires on.
I currently have the factory 3.23 gears and would like to know if I will notice much difference if I put in a set of GM 3.73's. I was told that there won't be much difference. I would go 4.10's but the car gets driven on the freeway to much.
    Thanks!

Have you considered a torque converter? More go---and keep your highway mileage.

Yes a torque converter should be your first mod.

    3.73 gears

Thanks for the reply,I am not really that concerned about mileage as much as running the car at high rpms with the 4.11's for long periods of time.I just wondered if the 3.73's will give noticably better acceleration than the current 3.23's I have in there or is it just not worth it.
    Thanks again.

Thats why a converter should be your first mod. Once it locks up, it drives just like stock on the freeway

The 3.73's will definitely give you noticeably better acceleration, but nothing that a very high stall converter can't give you as well.

The converter may be the better choice for you because you can keep the RPM's low on the highway (get a lockup TC!!), yet if you punch the gas it will still take off as if it had a numerically higher gear ratio.

The only downsides to a stall are increased stress on the trans (might want too invest in an aftermarket trans cooler), and your fuel economy will drop noticeably in city driving.

Probably a few MPG. Can't tell you from first hand experience, just from what I've heard/read. I have an M6

I have 3.73's and a 3500 stall. You will notice a difference at the pump. I haven't really driven mine enough this summer to check gas mileage but I'm guessing it's in the bad to very bad range. I don't mod it for gas mileage though. I will say that with just a stall you won't believe it's the same car. Huge difference.
