I installed a 3.73 in my WS6 [auto] and was off about 6 mph. If you have a Predater Tuner or HP you can reset the speedometer. The 3.73 woke up the car, it's a little hard on the gas mileage. Enjoy!

    I had 3.23 and switched to 3.73

I have a 98 TA A4. When mine were installed my buddy used HPtuner that he did the original tune on the car with to adjust for the new gear. I haven't noticed the big difference in mileage from factory 3.23 to the motive 3.73. I get average of 20mpg when I go on highway and backroad cruises running between 70 and 85 crusing and a few 50 to 130 rolls. I have LT race headers, ORY, SLP Power Flo catback, LS6 intake w/ P&P throttle body, volant intake, Granatelli MAF, and a aggresive street tune, tranny re-tuned to shift at 6100 rpm.
Best mod for the buck so far.

get the deluxe install kit made by ratech for like 109 and it comes with everything to rebuild the 10 bolt and make it like new. Was worth the cash if you taking it apart to do the gears anyway.

That's good because after mine was installed I noticed a huge difference with power and it felt smoother since the old rear hardware had seen better days.

If you have an A4, you will need your shift points adjusted, for the transmission shifts per RPM (I believe).

I went from 3.23's to 3.73's, and the transmission kept shifting up and down erratically before I had a dyno tune to adjust the shift points, and other problems corrected.

Your RPM's will be fine they're dirrectly off the crank shaft to the engine, it's the spedometer and odometer that wil be effected, an after market programer is a simple fix for a few hundred and you can mess with other things as well at your leasure. I'm useing the Garmin GPS as a heads up till I have mine fixed.

I just switched from 3.23 to 3.75's with an A4, I have 80 miles on it and it shifts fine for normal driveing. I'm haveing a local guy do HP tuner, to adjust the gears, delete the rear O2 and EGR... $150 first time, minor work done for free following, $50 an hour to mess with other things.

    yes... 3.75 not a type'O
