    10 BOLT or NOT????????

I've read in posts that the 10 bolt needs to be replaced by the 12 bolt. I talked to a couple of performance shops and they all said that since I have an A4 then the 10 bolt will do fine, but I will need to build or buy a performance transmission because that's where the weak link is. Is what they are saying right or am I just totally off the mark here?

MY car has 28,000 miles on it and I'm putting in a 3000 stall, cam, and exhaust.

Depends on how much power your planning on putting to the wheels, also what type of tires your running.
The stock ten bolt Can take a beating but when you throw some slicks or drag radials and hard launches they decide to take a poo on ya. Mine lasted 23 thou with 15" slicks then decided to pop on me.

What do you mean by lasted 23?
I plan on getting some Nitto 555 tires, hopefully they'll work but if not I have looked at some ET drag radials.

    a good $3000.00 +

i still have my stock 10 bolt in my car. only change was to 3.73 mikrnite processed gears. pulled a 1.601 60ft last month and made 663 rwhp. i drive the car everyday. i know of a guy not too far from me that pulled consistent 1.5x 60fts with the stock rear for two years until it finally broke.

I would say If you have the money and are planning on keeping the car go with a 12 bolt for your A4 and If you want to launch hard you also should look into some suspension goodies.
