Water pump replacement. Help!!!!!

I'm ready to replace the water pump in my dads truck. The motor is a 4.8 v8. Will the gaskets need silicone? Any tip's or a link where it takes you thru the steps.

No, the gaskets already have an oring type elastomer material like (neoprene, Fluoroelastomer - Viton® & Fluorel®, Silicone, Buna 'N' (Nitrile). on them so just make sure the surfaces are clean and you'll be fine. You can put silicone on them but it makes a cam or timing chain swap harder.

just go buy some new ones..they're like $13 from the chevy house. pretty simple to change

I think he has the new gaskets he was just wanting to know if anything needed to be put on them.

i used a dab when i did the ls1 pump just to make them stick when i stabbed it up
