    wanting to upgrade my 2wd 5.3liter silverado to hold the mods im fixin to throw at engine curious where i should start with tranny????

    Depends how far you plan on going with mods... the tranny in it now is pretty damn good.

    Exclamation dun for

    upgraded torgue converter already and lost 3 and 4th gear they just cant hang with any extra horses very notorious for shelling with any mods , simple mods, im just needing to know where to get started?? now that it is already down for the count???

    Well I guess you have 2 options.

    1. You can take the trans apart and upgrade everything with HD parts, sunshell, clutch's, bands, sprags... etc.

    2. Upgrade the whole unit to like a 4L80.

    I had an 02 Z71 full bolt on and never had a single issue with the trans. Sold it at 80k.

    Performabuilt is a sponsor to this web site has a transmission I'm going to buy. It has a 2 year warranty on the converter an transmission and 1 year if you buy transmission without converter. They do all the trick stuff to it. They have performance, heavy duty truck, extreme off road transmissions they will get my money. I've searched the web all over they have the best warranty and parts.
