Replacing brakes
I'm replacing brakes in my avalanche and I can't get the rotors off. I took off the small washers to hold them on and still they won't budge. I've tried a hammer and nothing. A friend told me to take the bearing cap off and see if theres a bolt in there to undo. But every body else I talk to including Chevy says that I don't have to do that, and that it should slide right off.
Its of 2002 5.3 with four wheel drive, 6 lugs, 1500. Also I pull a 6000lbs boat and trailer with its own brakes. Is it worth upgrading rotors and what kind.
Thanks
Matt

I got them off just a lot of hammering. They actually broke in two pieces.
