    Angry Problems

I have a 2000 GMC Z71 that i am now having problems with. When the truck runs it runs great. THe problem I am having is intermitent. Sometimes when i go to start the truck i hear a single click and everything goes dead. Nothing works after the emergency flasher, lights, brakelights, radio, and so on. It is completely dead. I then take either the POS. or NEG. battery lead off for aprox 30 minutes. then i can start the truck and it immediatly dies. If i play with the gas and keep it running it will then clear and will start for the next 10 to 20 times. Then it goes dead and i have to disconnect the battery for 30 minutes. any suggestions

    Thanks

Everything would go dead, after attemptin to start..You have a bad starter..One of the strips is suckin all the juice to get it to turn over but it cant..The clickin is your solenoid pushin the pinion gear forward...

Had a similar issue on a forklift, thought it was relays, cables, batts but it was the silly starter...

cables are the cheapest place to start. sometimes if you get any corrosion on the leads, that corrosion will work its way into the cables and eat them away wear you cant see it. i would start there mainly because you dont have to charge your batt after everything goes dead. you can pull your starter and take it somewhere and have it checked out, but i would still start with cables

^^^ You said the batt tested good....did they load test it also? Since you're losing all power it wouldn't be the starter unless there's two seperate issues going on. Check the cables for corrosion and load test the batt.
