Need a new engine for my truck

Hey guys whats up, I thought i post here for inside help , well my dad's 1990 2500 K Sierra has given him 270000 Miles and still running. however she isnt running like she was 18 years ago, and i was talking to him about doing an engine swap. so hes agreed. So my question is, what engine would you recomend? i was thinking of buying a 350HO from GMperformance.

LSX is what I'd do. It's a little more work but well worth the effort when your done. If you want to go cheap install a 5.3.

I found a 454 locally here for 730 dollars we just have to install.

Do you drive this truck a lot or put a lot of miles on it??

With the price of gas, a 454 is the last engine I'd be looking at. Talk about a fuel slut

If you had the time/money and plan on keeping the truck, I'd do an LS swap. However, a 350 would be much cheaper and easier.

The truck only runs 12 miles a day. The 454 does sound and look sexy but i agree they are fuel sluts. besides my dad rejected that route, looks like hes going with a stock 350. that one is 650, which is not much of a diffrence than that 454, but the 350 has re-enforced block.
