he's the second or third to do it and there are several in progress that are turbo. that one is just and engine swap, kinda like dropping a 350 in one to me

Nice swap, though I personally would stick with the turbo six.

I had a Typhoon for quite a while and liked it the way it was. Although the V8 swap in GM high tech is neat,,,,it's not a turbo which is part of what these trucks were about.
Just another V8 swap into an S10 to me.

    bowtie block 2500-3000
forged crank 2500 and up if you can find one
as far as heads there are only a couple of really high end heads.
max effort p&p vortecs are over 2500 but there is always bowtie 18 degree heades if you can find them or pontiac heads that require a set of jessel rockers that are over 1000 dollars alone. and then you're guaranteed to need a sheet metal intake and custom headers. then the 700r4 is a junk transmission no matter how much you spend on it, so you need a 4l80e which is 2k for the swap parts.

Man, the prices you quoted sound right in the area of what a high-end LS1 build cost. Sooo, what gives?

Oh, and instead of going sheetmetal, you could always go Victor instead.

Well there is a big difference between the buick turbo 6 cylinder and the syclone/typhoon turbo 6 cylinder, which was a 4.3 chevrolet based V-6,,,basically a 350 V-8 missing 2 cylinders.
I don't believe they are as pricey to build as the buick 3.8 V-6 as far as high end bullet proof parts. I lived next to a buick turbo shop that built the 2004R's to live behind 8 second buicks as well as build engines with high end parts, and they were about the costs that you speak of.

Since you weren't specific on which I can only assume.
