ls1 s10 questions
I just bought a 2000 s10 ls extended cab 4.3 auto it was cheap and looks real good. I'm wanting to put an ls1 in it and think I have the skill and cash to do it but was still wanting advise. If anyone around has done one i would like to hear where they got most of the parts and info on the swap or if anyone has extra parts to sell or best place to get quality parts. I will post pictures soon. I just want a fun truck not looking to make it the fastest one out just a little extra under the hood.
What I have:
2000 s10 extended cab all stock
4.3
auto 4l60e (will this trans work?)
What I need: I know I will need more this is the first thought!
ls1 (auto) motor lower miles nothing higher then 60k
wiring (I would like a stock look and stock dash) painless wiring?
computer
motor mounts
fuel pump
electric water pump
radiator and fans

Someone in my home town did this exact same swap. His turned out perfect and looks like it came from the factory with the LS1.
I will see if I can find the pictures I took of his truck to post for you.

It pretty much the same swap I made in my truck just a little tighter. I have all F-body accessories, factory wiring from both vehicles, Adapter plates, etc.... you can also use the f-body fans and water pump like I did, no need for electric. I'm fixing to buy an S-10 or Colorado and make the LS2 swap for my daily driver.

V8S10s has done some pretty ggod work in the past and hangs out on LS1Truck with us on occasion. Here's some of his work, I really like the Colorado SS. http://www.v8s10s.com/id2.html

I plan to start my ls1 project in a week! I will soon take some pictures and keep everyone updated. If you have any advise that would be greatly appriciated.
I'm getting an engine out of a 99 ss camaro and going to order the motor mounts and wiring harness tomorrow.

If you can get a 2001 or newer the engine should have the LS6 intake and possible block like mine. This way you don't have the EGR and you have a better intake to play with. Just a though............

Would be ALOT cheaper and just as reliable 4.8/5.3/5.7/6.0/6.2. you can get a 5.3 for $450. stock form good for 600+rwhp. put in some pistons, rods and studs and they are good for 800-1000rwhp
