    Looking for a 4L65E Expert

A & A corvetter is putting a motor together for my 2006 Escalade ESV which will have about 800HP. We may even detune it to 700. I have a built 4L80E already for it, but needs to have cross members and drive shaft fabricated.

I am wondering if I can get by with a maximum strength 4L65E and not have to go to the 4L80 so I can save time and headache.

I have heard many differeing stories about the weight of the car and the power and the L65E, all of them conflicting.

So I want to get the opinion of an expert about 4L65s.

I know that Lingenfelter on their 74HP EXTs has had to go to 4L80E on one occasion, but that is yet another one off data point.

    Any guidance would be appreciated.

    A 4l60e / 4l65e is basically a 350 w/ a 4th gear(strength wise)
A 4l80 is similar to a 400. The bigger the stronger, but also heavier and takes more power to run.

    hey

We have 4L60e/4L65e running under 800 hp, but not under that much weight. They'll go with the h.p. but the weight will be the breaking factor...You'll just keeping breaking reaction carriers/shafts, front and rear plantaries, already mentioned sprags and roller clutchs. Bite the bullet and install the 80e and go on down the road and forget about it!! Hope this helps Dave
