Smile Little BEFORE & AFTER thread

Made some mild changes to my 2002 Z71 for the new year. After being laid off over the Holidays, it's not in the cards for me to get another F body for a while, so the truck will have to do...

Went from having a Rough Country Full leveling kit, to being lowered enough to definitely notice, but without the usual issues with a lowered truck.

Used some SpringTech 2" lowering spindles with stock torsion bar keys, removed the rear lift blocks, a pair of 2" lowering shackles and a set of KYB MonoMax shocks all around. While I was at it, I also swapped on some 20" Cruiser Alloy Threshold wheels with some new (take-off) Yokohamas.

Other mods are: Ebay stainless longtubes, Hooker Aerochamber/Dynomax Super Turbo hybrid catback, ported throttle body, modded stock airbox w/4" custom air intake setup, LS1 fans, and tuned by me via HPTuners.

BEFORE: (with stock wheels and 33's)

    BEFORE: (w/Weld Wheels and 33x12.5's)

    Here's an AFTER SHOT: (w/stock 17's)

And here's an AFTER shot with the 20's on it:

Here's pic of my homemade 4" air intake setup:

And for anyone who hasn't seen it yet, here's the link to my rather large thread (35 pages, and 32,000+ views so far) concerning the Ebay headers, their fitment, and tons of pics and additional info about them:

    Very nice looking truck.

I like the top picture the best with the stock wheels and 33's. Reminds me of my 02 Z71 that I miss so much.

Thanks. I like that pic/look myself. I also had chrome Escalade wheels on it for a short time, but can't locate the pic.

Believe it or not, the total height is exactly the same between the 17's (3rd pic) and the 20's (4th pic). It rides 100% better/smoother with the P series Yokohamas, instead of the LT series BFG's on the 17's as well. You'd think that the opposite would be true, but the LT type tires are so much stiffer in the sidewall. The weight between the two is very close as well.

As for why, I was bored with the raised up "leveled" look and wanted a change. It's never been off-roaded anyway, but it'll still pull it's way through most any snow situation with the 4wd if need be, yet has the look (and handling) of a lowered 2wd truck. Today was the first time I have actually driven it with the new KYB Monomax shocks on and I am pretty impressed with them as well. Rides smoother than stock now. Saving the 17's and BFG's for winter use only, but I like how they look on there too. Just came across such a cheap deal on the 20's and tires I couldn't pass it up. I think it looks better in person, but that is the only pic (with the 20's) that I got before I fell off the little wall I was standing on and broke my foot...lol.
