    Exhaust Mods

After owning the Suburban now for about 4 months, I have started to consider exhaust mods. I am pretty sure this thing has a resonator (or resonators) on it -- any benefit to removing them and what is the affect on the exhaust note? I would probably then replace the stock muffler with a Magnaflow unit. I would really like to do LT's, but just can't see myself going quite that crazy... yet.

Out of all the Suburbans we have sold since 07, I have yet to see a single one come in with exhaust work done. I've seen it a few times on the NBS Silverados, which is the same 5.3 and it sounds pretty damn good. Tame at idle, and not too ridiculous at WOT. Magnaflow seems to be the preferred choice too, and I believe they're just buying catback systems. As far as LT's go... if it's a daily driver, or if you're hauling your family around long distances, they're not gonna want to listen to that drone the whole time.

I found a deal on ebay for a Cherry Bomb Extreme muffler and exhaust kit for a dual exit with stainless tips. Had it installed and also threw on a CAI Kit and couldn't of been happier. This is on my 01 Seirra 4.8L and it really seemed to make a little difference in power, it sounds awesome for this truck too. At the very least I was just happy to ge rid of that eyesore of a tailpipe that comes stock. It doesnt have any resonators, just a big ass stock muffler. I'de go with just swapping the muffler out or getting a whole cat-back kit for now. You'll like the results

Thanks guys! I need to get it back up in the air as I can't remember the stock layout. If I went LT's, it would still have cats -- probably high flow aftermarket, but that should keep it from being obnoxious.

There are a bolt on set on ebay that will hook right up to the factory cat back. There very good for the price. i come from a truck site and they get pretty good reviews.

Resonators are usually used to mask/control exhaust rasp, to give an exhaust a more consumer appealing and consistant exhaust note..

Definitely go Magnaflow if you are looking to keep it down a little. Doesn't Gibson make a good catback kit for these trucks? The Cherrybomb kit I got sounds good and has gotten a lil louder since I put it on in Oct. You wouldn't guess I was just rockin a 4.8L if you heard it. I'll be posting a youtube vid of it when I get home.

I have always installed Magnaflow on our cars -- only exception is going to be the W-31 which is getting a Pypes system.

Thanks! I checked out the link. Be best though to edit your post to remove it. Links to non-sponsor products and other sites are generally verboten. I am thinking that the level of sound deadening and insulation in the 'Burb is going to offset a lot of the exhaust note. Only one way to find out...

Thanks for the heads up, I was not sure if it was okay or not. I deleted it.

I had the Corsa Sport and Touring on my 03' Yukon Denali and loved them both but decided to keep the touring muffler. I just traded the truck in and bought an 07' escalade and will be installing a corsa touring on that as well. The truck had 0 drone inside but when you got on it, it sounded awesome. Go on youtube and listen to some clips.
