    Electric Fans

I was wanting to know if anyone had installed electric fans on their truck, this a 04 chevy 5.3 and summit has a kit that is a direct fit [flex-o-lite 292] . Could you tell the diference in fuel miliage and help with power? Already did the TB by pass and thinking about a catch can, it worked well in the GTO. Thanks

Is this a fan kit that runs all the time?

Jay, Thanks for responding. No this comes with a thermostat for the engine temp and a relay for the AC, also an overide switch to turn them on when you want to, and the are 60% and 100%.

It will free up some power on one side but takes it in another. The alt needs to make power by taking power from the motor so I don't know if you will feel it. if air is going into the grill your loosing fuel mileage just cuz of drag. Kind of the problem with trucks, they need the air but they are bricks in the wind. Fans running or not running will not affect it much but getting the clutch fan off the motor will help a little. It always comes down to $$$$ the electric fans wont cool the motor better but the will use power and that can cause drag on the belt system because of the alt making power to power the fans. If you can get someone who actually put numbers to paper and tested what the fans are worth that would tell you the storey of how much it helps. just my 2 cents that may end up costing you 50 bucks lol.

DO NOT USE THE FLEX-O-LITE'S. This has been discussed 100+ times on Performance Trucks.net Get factory gm fans off ebay from an 05 and up 5.3 Silverado. You can get the harness from Nelson Racing. The E-Fans made a world of a difference on my truck. It also keeps my tranny temps lower. If you go the nelson route, you'll need to have you tune modified so the computer will control your fans. The other nice part of the factory fans is the bolt holes are already there....it slips right in and only uses 2 bolts on top. If you want some before and after pics of the GM fans installed or have any questions, feel free to PM me.
