different ports on 5.3 5.7's right?

Ok whats all of this talk about swapping 5.3 heads on 5.7's and 5.7's intakes on 5.3's I thought the 5.3's had different ports and the new LQ's have the car ports. Are people mismatching or doing major surgery or what.

I'm doing a set of 5.3 heads for my 98 5.7 now ! Small combustion chambers for high compression. You need to port the intake & exhaust runners & have the 2.02 / 1.6 valves machined in, and then you have one mean set of heads !!!

r u sure that you're not thinkin about the gen II 5.7's??? Cuz the LS style 5.7's interchange w/ the LQ stuff fairly easily.
