    2008 1500 LS taillight socket....?

Son got a "new to him" '08 Silverado LS 4x4 ext. cab.
It has an issue with A corroded tailight socket on the driver's side.
Been hitting all the parts stores and searching online trying to figure out what is going on with this thing.
None of the replacement sockets we find fit the tailight assembly.
Special ordered one that was supposed be correct but was not(Dorman 645-626).
See a couple complete tailight assembly listings online for newer trucks that mention the center(back up)bulb specifications; either same as other two bulbs or different.
But the 3 wire recepticle that we need to replace is the lower turn/tail lamp and not the center bulb.
Wondered if anyone has had to deal with this issue yet...?
Pic below of what the light assembly looks like.
Tried searching any numbers I could find on the whole assembly and the few that were on the socket itself without any luck also.
Hoping to just replace the corroded socket.
Some pics of the corroded socket and what the back of the light assembly too.

I pretty sure GM will have one to sell you. Have you checked with the dealership?

Parts counter at local GMC says that their socket which is same as the Dorman was correct.
Let us take it to the truck and did not fit.
Parts counter was stumped after that.
Tried telling us taillight assemblies must be wrong ones...?
They have a couple GM markings molded into them.
Thought that they may have been replaced or upgraded prior to us getting the truck.
Parts store guy searched photos thinking that there may have been a late in the model year change or something.
Have not been able to locate correct socket even looking at 2009-2010 part numbers yet either...

How about getting the whole tail light jumper harness? It'll include the 3 sockets and will plug in somewhere behind the tail light or under the bed. You should be able to find those on eBay or the dealer.

We looked into that at the GMC dealer and parts store(ya know O- O- O-riel...'s)
Their schematics, pictures, and descriptions did not show or list any details on the sockets themselves.
GMC parts counter seemed to think the harness would have the same sockets that we tried but did not match the truck's tailight assemblies.
It was a little frustration since the only pictures were illustrations that were pretty crude cartoons.
Nearly the same at parts store.
Nobody was very confident we would get anything any different if we were to special order either.
O- O- O-'s said that atleast they would return and refund if not correct; dealer stated opposite, electrical part no return correct or not.
So that line of thinking seemed to be everyone's next best option also, just did not seem very promising.
I am guessing that we may end up trying to find as lose as we can off the shelf and possibly filing the opening in the tailight or altering the sockets locking lugs... always a way.
Just thought since this one rotted away maybe someone else had already dealt with the same and researched enough to know what we were up against.
VERY much appreciate the help and advice
    THANKS ! ! !

Ended up getting a Dorman wiring harness for the driver's side tail lights. Part # 645-396 had all the right sockets and ended up being what we needed.
Or at least got the corroded socket replaced with new.
    Seemed OK initially.
Ends up with the same issue now though.
New bulbs all around and the driver's side turn signal flashes at correct speed/pace a few times and then... way too quick and looks like the bulbs don't get quite as bright while flashing.
Tried checking wiring further upstream but not seeing anything obvious.
My next thought was maybe front bulbs bad causing issue with that circuit.
Looked at accessing the front bulbs in the headlight assembly but...
How the heck do you get at those????
Took 3 10mm headed screws out and looks like grill, fender, and/or bumper need to get taken off to have enough room to get headlight off/out.
Anyone had to get one of these on or off before?
Anyone had issues with a way too quick turn signal.
    At a loss currently.
    Appreciate it.
    Thanks ! ! !

Yep. There is a bolt under the side of the bumper. You can probably leave the bumper on and get to it through the wheel well area after partially removing the wheel well liner. Also, I think the grille needs to come off.

Usually when the turn signals flash fast it's because the amperage going through the T/signal circuit isn't correct to operate the flasher properly. Usually it's a burnt out bulb, incorrect bulbs (LEDs or wrong part number bulb), or the flasher is bad.
You might be able to replace the flasher with a heavy duty flasher. Those flashers will flash the same, normal speed no matter what is hooked up to it.

    Back with this again...
Replaced the harness for the tail light, junction block, and been through a TON of bulbs trying to get the turn signal to flash at normal speed.
Do these newer trucks still have a "flasher"?
Would it effect one side and not the other?
I know that they used to be round tin cylinder plugged into fuse box on firewall by driver's foot.
I only get to look at and work on this when son brings truck home from school on weekends.
    Trying to help him out.
    Appreciate any info.
Appreciate the link above and hoped to check out the hd flasher, but got to see a work bench at Sam's Club

What happens when you put on the hazards? Does it still flash fast? Have you checked all of the grounds in the circuit?
