2006 z71 5.3 cam springs and pushrods

Hey guys
This is my first thread on this site. As it says in the title I have a 06 silverado that I'm putting a cam springs and pushrods in Im going to be ordering from Texas speed and was wondering if anybody in here has had this done before. I gave the reps on the site what I wanted to do so they recommend I go with 212/218 cam. I do moderate towing during the summer for my boat but I also want more power to run my truck when need be. I go on ride outs with my buddies and their car clubs and I want to keep up with those stangs(ewww) and cameros. I have 4.88 gears in it with a air raid intake, tb spacer and cat back exhaust on 37 lol. I want long tubes in the future but this cam is my first step then a tune to follow. I live in the bayarea California so that's a problem but I might be able to get a good tune to pass smog. If I have to pay to get it to pass I will do so when need be. (Don't be afraid to share where you guys get your to pass also) Let me know if anyone has any input or ideas or cheap shops around the bay to get this done faster. Probably will try to do this with my buddies to save green. Thanks guys

Seems like a good cam choice based on the duration you gave. A higher stall torque converter is another popular upgrade, but with your 4.88 gears...that might not be necessary
