    Puts down 240 rwhp with K&N drop in, MSD wires, no cats, and HPtune. Has 4l60E, Auto-trac and 3.73's

    Now...

    Got a Comp Cam...
    Idle -5500: 212/218 558/563 on 115 LSA,

    gonna do springs...
    OD: Top 1.075" Bottom 1.310"
    ID: Top .650" Bottom .885"
    Seat Pressure: 125 lbs @ 1.800''
    Open Pressure: 367 lbs @ 1.150''
    Coil Bind: 1.100"
    Spring Rate: 372 lbs/in

    Pacesetter LTs with ORY,

    But... I Found reman LS1 shortblocks... $750 with warranty.

    Should I buy one, and work the 5.3 heads then slap this together???

    What kind of gains should I see either way?

    I'm not too familiar with cam swaps on 5.3's, but it's an LS based engine, so I'd expect phenominal gains.

    If you have the money and the time, why not throw in LS1 into the truck!!! 5.3 to a 5.7 would be worth it, and you already have the heads to match up to it!

    Sounds like a cool project though, I'm excited to hear the results!

    Keep the 5.3 and cam it. I've seen a 4th Gen Camaro once with a 5.3 swapped into it. Had a cam and an LS6 intake with normal bolt ons and made around what your Z28 is making in sig.
