Went to a Burn Out Competition a few weeks back. I'm Including it on this thread to show different things we've done with the Car. I don't recommend this to Anyone but... As with most things in Life I had to "Learn this" on my own. What a Mess afterwards, 30 Seconds from the time they turn.

Have a couple of questions if you don't mind..

Did you replace the black trim around the front and rear windshields?

If so where did you get it or order it from? I need to replace those on my 92 z34 project.

The front and rear rubber trim are from a Buick Regal.
The Rear tops are trimmed to the Lumina, they are actually to long as a Buick.
The front is unaltered. Safelite is a local Glass installer, that's who I used.

I dropped the Rear using new Springs, 1.75 Inches. I know that seems like a Hell of a Lot but Considering I could put my Fist in Above the Rear tire....Well the Car Looked like it had Air Shocks! Now it Sits Level.

If weather permits This Weekend and my Tune Happens Saturday like it's supposed to We'll Shoot a Burn Out Video, there's a nice piece of Concrete in front of my Shop.
I thought it was Buick Seals but its Cutlass, Oldsmobile

Ah thanks! I need to replace the front windshield.

Mine did'nt break but it's 20 years old and the upper tinted part has faded to an odd yellowish hue.

The glass house can retrofit the front gaskets but the rear windshield and roof seals in the rear roof line need replaced due to age.

    Thanks again for the info.

Hello, my name is John Evans and I am a former GM technician from Buffalo, NY. First I wanted to say you car is FREAKING SWEET! For some reason, Lumina Z34's are one of my favorite cars and I have been considering buying another one (I had a 1991 but got rid of it because the transmission was dying and I was poor). I've been thinking of different ways to go powertrain wise other than th superchagred 3.8 (mainly because everyone does it). I have thought of the FWD LS4 setup that's in the '06-'10 Impala/Monte SS or RWD. Your thread intrigues the hell out of me but I was actually wondering if you had researched using a mid 1980's G-body (Monte Carlo, Regal, etc.) instead of an F-body? From what I've read the G-bodies have similar dimensions to the W-body but I don't know what would have to happen to the floor pan. Anyway, kudos again on doing such a sweet and unique project!

As a current owner of a Gen-1 z34 and having experiance with G-body cars (grew up with them) I can tell you there are no similarities. The G is a larger car in all aspects. With that said I am sure if you chopped and fabed enough it could be made to work. I also agree dropping a 3800 in a gen 1 z34 is a waste of time as the LQ1 makes more power than an L36, the LQ1 sounds 1000x better as well. However I do see the appeal as the LQ1 after market is lacking in all aspects of the word. (Ask me how I know lol). It takes a lot of money to mod an LQ1, I know as I've been working on a complete restore and twin turbo set up on one of my own LQ1's for about 3-4 years now. A v8 FWD conversion though rare has been done on one of the forums using an early northstar dohc v8. It would be the most viable option as apposed to the extensive work it takes to convert a W to RWD. The 4l80e is the auto I'd recommend if you go FWD or a Muncie 5-spd preferably the 282 or the super rare 284 as well as the F-40 6spd. However using the Getrag f-40 will require fab work and some cross reffing of parts (if you stay stock) from various vehicle such as GM, Saab, Ford and so forth. SPec makes a clutch and flywheel adaptor for the f-40 since the G6 GTP with the 3900 uses a dual mass flywheel. The 3.6L or the 3900 and a few others would also be good swaps into a w-body candidates imho. Though the 3800 option will be your "easiest" swap over. There are also plenty of more modern GM v6's making more power without a need for a blower than the 3800 and even the 3800 SC. And even still some making better power than v8's. In the end you'd have to weigh cost, while the after market for the 3800 is huge NONE of the afore mentioned swaps will be cheap.. Good luck with whatever you deside.

Hey thanks for the info! I appreciate the response, however I did some research and found this...

    G-body:
    Wheelbase: 108"
    Width: 71.8"
    Length: 202.4"
    Track: (Front) 58.5"
    (Rear) 57.8"

    W-Body:
    Wheelbase: 107.5"
    Width: 71.7"
    Length: 198.3"
    Track (front): 59.5"
    (Rear): 58"
This info was from several info sites and web forums and they all give the same dimensions. What I was more referring to was the chassis dimensions being almost identical. The overall length being 4" seems to me rather inconsequential as it is probably all in the fascias. The G-body specs on here are for a 1985 Monte SS, which from what I've seen is 2-3 inches longer than the other base model Montes. As for the FWD V8, the LS4 and the 4T65E tranny out of the 07-11 Impala/Monte SS seemed good because the 65 is essentially the same tranny as the 4T60E that is already in the Lumina, and the LS4 mounts to the current W-body cradle which as far as I know utilizes the same mounting points as the first gen W-body. Anyway, thanks for your input!

Hmm interesting.. I have given the thought of using an s10 or gmc s15 frame before. The thing is an f-body has more similar under pinings to the W than the G but with enough money you could put a BMW chasis under her too..lol

I personally steer clear of many of GM 's early FWD automatics. When talking v8 and ls4 I also believe those years had extensive trouble with that trany/engine combo in the Monte. This is why I recommend a good muncie or newer getrag as those tranies haev a good track record being behind any LS and small or big block chevy. What ever you may deside your work will be cut out or you (no pun) but imho would be a fun build.

Here's an example of the German made Getrag f-40 mated to an LS1 in a Fiero craddle. Many run purely stock f-40 and mucie's behind their v8's. There are also some companies out there that will cryo treat your trany internals for the more crazy apps. I am also using this trany for my LQ1 TT build.

I also have a new cryo input shaft Muncie 282 sitting on my bench with a quad bell and 4:11 first gear..XD

Machining motor mount bushings, hunting the right pressure plate as I am not a fan of Spec. Getting the body taken apart, etc, etc. Prolly have to machine a flywheel adaptor too.

Been "bored".... Well not on this car but I did start another LSX Build.
    About 3 weeks ago a stuck a 5.3 in a 95 S10.
running a 4l60e tranny behind it. When completed it's going to look like a 2002 Extreme S10. The Extreme S10's came with 4 or 6 bangers, not to "Extreme" IMO. So out with the 4.3 and in with the 5.3

The 5.3 is out of a 2004 Suburban 4x4 roll over. It has 89,000 miles on it.

This truck will be called a "LS10 Extreme" and although the motors pretty much stock except for EGR delete and headers with a mild tune it will Trully be the Extreme LS10
