Pontiac G8 FIREHAWK

Just heard about this today. SLP has just announced they are making a Firehawk model for the new Pontiac G8. They have different mods for the V6 to V8, and will have a special supercharged V8 to decide upon.
I don't think its 100% bad, I like the idea and mod sense of it...don't like the Firehawk name being used for it though. Says LS1tech.com was the source for the facts. Thoughts on this anyone?

Why would they use the Firehawk name on a G8? Looks ok, but it doesn't deserve the name.

SLP owns the name, not GM.

They can do whatever they want....and SLP isn't the brightest.

I different name would have been a great idea.
I like the concept behind an aftermarket G8 like the SLP SS and the Firehawk, but the name needs to be different in my opinion.

indeed, firehawk says trans am to me..just doesn't go with a 4door performance sedan...although i do not have a better idea so i cant say much.

Or G8 SLP It needs a 3 letter call vs a long name.

Just like Mr. Luos said, SLP owns the name, not GM. But I also agree 100% with you Mr. Luos about the aftermarket concept of it, they definitely should have used another name in my opinion. I'm sure Firehawk owners in the F-Body community are pissed now, which I wholeheartedly understand as well. I really don't think the G8 deserves the title " Firehawk " either. I was surprised to have read that it was going to be called this. It may be a respectable rememberance of a beautiful, powerful stock Trans Am, but in no way does anything else besides a Pontiac F-Body deserve the title " Firehawk " in my opinion.

the G8 is a nice car. I have no problem with the name since the TA is dead.
My only problem with it, has to do with how ugly SLP made it look.

I like the fact that they wanna make options for the G8 but if they use the firehawk name, its gonna completely kill it as anything special to us. Worst idea ive heard in a long time.

yeah that's ture, but they've been doing that for awhile, but if GM didn't like the idea they could still decide not to go through with it... and I thought SLP was done with anyways. if there not how come we cant' those firehawk hoods anymore or any of that other shit they stop making....bastards...

Mabey they should spend their time and money on a new GTO. or at least pick up where they left off. I don't think they should bring back the Firebird because there's nothing left to improve on, the 4th Gen was as bad as that car will ever be, IMO it's the meanest, most aggressive looking car out there. But they could have done a better job with the goat, if they would have just kept the monaro's front end it would have a hell of a lot more aggressive look to it.
