the z06 is no more just another vette as the zr1 is just another vette....the fact that the z06 has a different frame, one of the best engines gm has ever made, different body panels, more expensive and rarer materials like the bosa(sp) wood floors and the carbon fiber body panels. and the engine is hand built just like a Ferrari etc.

but i see what you are saying, as most regular joes dont know the difference.
I think the regular Vette has woods floors, the C5's and up... But down here, Vette's are like a Civic, the Zo6 would be your typical "Corvette" siting... Different would be a Viper, I see one once a week. Hell, I see an old Ferrari every day here.

very true about the c5s..but i would still say the z06 is a typical corvette...if it is in your area i am sorry..but then 40k will not be enough to stand out.

To bad the Ford GT was not cheaper...

I still think I try and hit a Maserati or Ferrari, find an indy and talk to them about the models yours interested in. See what the maintenance cost would be.

Yep, lol... But I like it, because there's really only one C4 I see on the roads allot. Now my 63 Falcon, the rare occasions it hits the streets. People all stare and give a thumps up. But I like that the newer Mustang GT's look, and tried not to be noticed... I think they rather drive a Vette then the Mustang.

That really sucks that people fight so hard to be original. I'm probably gonna get a c5 z06 and there are quite a few vettes around here, but most of them are just base models.

    I don't really care, i want one.

Y does it suck? Some would say those that try to fit in and run with the crowd suck (read as dont try to be unique).

Uniqueness is just a quality that i want to get out of a car when i spend that much money on it... If i was looking for what i am looking for in a $10k car i could see where im being picky, but im looking at cars that were $80k-$100k MSRP... I dont really expect to see them in every parking lot...

with uniqueness also comes money, im pretty sure there are alot of people who can afford a 40k car, now think how many people have 100k cars, not as many, 100k+ cars even fewer.

Exactly, the average car is in the 30k range these days, 40k isn't an insane amount of money to spend on a car therefore its hard to be truely unique.

$40k for a suburban that is used every day... or any other car that is used every day for $40k... Well its a little over my budget, but its understandable to most people...

Me spending $40k on the kind of car im looking for is comparable to the amount of people that have a Ducati 1198R in thier garage... I really dont think it should be THAT hard to find a completely USELESS garage queen that is $40k... Not many people are looking to spend that kind of cash on a car that will see less than 5k on the odo every year.

I think a Maserati is your best bet, maintenance is high. But not as much as you think, since you probably won't drive as much. Should not be to bad either. I seen some decent ones for $30,000 in my area, you'll have $10,000 to put somewhere to collect interest and pay for maintenance.

Here is what it MUST have...
    1. V8 or greater
    2. Manual
    3. Must be rare/exotic.

    1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS LS5.
    1. 454 LS5, probably cant score an LS6 for under 40k.
    2. Muncie M22 Rock Crusher 4spd
    3. I would consider a real LS5 pretty rare.

    Happy hunting!
