eclipse power??
i guy at school has a 00 eclipse and its a 4 banger but he is looking to turbo it so he can get a whooping 220hp at the flywheel. he says the car weighs 1700lbs in stock form which i know is bs. but, my question is he talks like they are soooo awesome, he says those years with a v6 turbo made 350 hp stock. i think he is full of sh!t cuz i woulda heard more about them, i know they are dog slow any input? thanks

Pewter- 2002 T/A WS6
Yeah, he is full of it. They break a lot too.. They are heavier than that, slower than that (stock). Usually like 15.x sec cars. They give civics a run for their money sometimes in turbo trim..
Someone at my last job had one with with a bigger turbo, big FMIC, 4in exhaust with fart can, etc. on it and claimed 500+ AWD HP.. caught him in a lie though, he raced me and didn't know it was me until after the race. The T/A stomped it severely from a roll, so obviously his wasn't making that much. He blamed it on his tune after the race and was po'ed that it was me in the T/A because he had been running his mouth about it for months.
They can be fast, but aren't reliable at all at higher horsepower. I wouldn't even worry the least about a nearly stock one. You're Z28 would stomp even the AWD turbo version stock for stock.
Oh yeah, I gotta say it..
Crankwalk.

That is the new bodystyle eclipse and there was never a turbo anything offered for it. Max was a 205 hp V6. No turbo 4 or 6 period and that new bodystyle weighed alot more than 1700 lbs try 3054 lbs. If he has a 4banger then hes got the 140 hp ES or GS.

95-99 the GS-T and the GS-X model were 210 turbos
2000-2004 had RS and GS that were 4cylinder that made 140HP that weight 3000lbs or so(pretty damn heavy
2000-2004 also had GT which was 205 6cylinder and still 3000lbs still very slow
2003 brought GTS which was 215HP i think and was still 3000lbs.
So if your friend has any of these the highest HP he has its 215 and weighs a shit ton, the older body style with the turbos were much lighter and faster than the newer body style!

Black- RIP S4 06Tbss
I have a 95 Talon tsi as my dd, so same difference, but it put down 240hp to the ground, the guy before me kept all the reciepts and I added them up to come out to like 14 grand put into it and its no where close to as fast as my TA so it would take a shit ton to have a 2000 base model eclips to even keep up with our cars. All and all he is talking out of his ass cuz his mouth knows better. Hope that put it in perspective a little bit.

Red- 2000 Trans Am
The only eclipse that makes a good amount of power is the new v6s with 270hp at the crank, around 220-230 to the wheels but the also weigh more then the previous years.

To their credit, the 2000-2005 Eclipses are pretty fun to drive.

09 EclipseGT 75 Chevy 4x4- 2001 Trans-Am 13 F-XT
My wife had a 2003 Eclipse GS with the 4 banger and it was very slow and no fun to drive. She got a 2006 Eclipse GS with the 4 banger and it was even slower. I lost a race to a riced out Integra that couldn't have more than fart pipe and intake. I got sick of it and we traded it for a 2007 Eclipse GT with the V6 and that one is fairly quick, but it is so annoying to drive. It has no limited slip up front and it spins the tires really easy make it not so fast. I did beat a 2000ish VW Golf VR6 with it. I'm not sure how they rank in ricer land.
