I wouldn't waste my money or space if it wasn't a full size lift.

Are the controls on a max jax lift work the same as a full size lift?

I understand. I wasn't picking on you. Just stating my opinion that the mid rise isn't worth the money. Good luck with whatever you do its your money and space.

Yes you can get the 2 post 8 foot lifts from various suppliers.
I have both an 8 foot lift and a 12 foot lift.

Don't let the 8 foot lift fool you. They are still capable of lifting the arms up to the top, which would allow anyone 7 feet tall to walk under the car. The catch is the ceiling height that makes them appealing. So the roof of the car reaches the ceiling long before you reach maximum height of the lift. You just have to adjust the catch stops to prevent accidental damage. With an 8 foot ceiling they are still very usable and much safer. You can roll around on a small chair under the car easily. It's still better than laying on your back.

I say this because what makes them nice is,,,,you can use them in your garage with your 8 foot ceiling,,,then if you ever build another shop with more ceiling height you can simply move the lift and use it just like a big lift.
My new shop has a 14 foot ceiling with a 12 foot lift. Actually this is overkill for me. I can raise the car up high enough to the point where I can't even reach anything Here is a shot of my newer one, made by superlifts.

Also keep in mind to take full advantage you'll need accessories that add to the cost such as pole jacks, transmission jacks, oil catch can etc....
