For anyone new to Harbor Freight, check online to see if there's a store near you. If there is, here's their local site: http://www.harborfreightusa.com
The local site doesn't give prices, but you CAN see if an internet product is available in a retail store. They also have the current in-store ads on there. Most local stores will even price match their internet site, if you print the page out.
I used to be hesitant about the quality of their tools. However, all of their hand tools have a lifetime warranty. You just bring the broken part into the store. I have a 3/8" clicker torque wrench from there that I've owned for about 4 years. Around last month, I broke it WHILE USING IT AS A HAMMER. Went to the store, gave it to them, and walked out with a new one for free in under 5 minutes.

Harbor Freight does have cheap tools but for some tools you really don't need the best. Like C-clamps, various screws, electrical crimping pliers, and even hammers. You must use your best judgement when buying a tool but sometimes you can get by cheaper. In most magazines they even have a 20% off coupon you can use.

I have had good luck with most Harbor Freight Tools. I have even beaten on a ratcheting wrench I bought from there with a hammer and it still works great. Harbor Freight is one of my favorite places to stock up on tools.

So, some like HF, and some dont.....
I guess, to each his own.
I have HF stuff, Snap On, MAC, Craftsman, and last I checked, if something breaks, I get a new one.

I have a few items from Harbor Freight. A lot of specialty tools that cost big bucks from the name brand boys can be found there. I agree, you get what you pay for but so far I have had great luck. Last few items I purchased included a replacement cylinder for my engine crane, a vibratory tumbler for cleaning and polishing small parts, a remote camera (borescope), and an aluminum jack. There is a store about an hour south of us and every month or so GMHTP and some other car magazines have H.F. coupons that I utilize.

there is certain tools that you can get from HF. I got their aluminum jack and rear end bearing puller. No issues with them. i had an electric drill and it burned out in a week. I had their electric impact wrench and it was awesome.

I go to HF for stuff that I just don't use much....tranny jack and stuff like that. I don't buy stuff through them that I'm gonna use a lot. I have been eyeing that small flux welder then have for a long time now. I've read good reviews on that as long as you don't use the wire that comes with it. One of these days I'll buy it and give it a try. I don't weld enough to warrant a high dollar welder.

As long as your smart about the tools you buy HF is a great alternative for certain tools. I don't need a Matco dead blow or ball peen when I can buy 3 from HF for the same price.
