Ya I know, I was just shooting out the factory rated numbers. All those engines actually put out a bit more than advertised.

the factory disks work good as is, for more a simple pad change and drilled rotors really shine! My malibu came with drums so any change was an improvement!

Yep, the camshaft alone was a popular upgrade to the 396/375 and 427/425 motors back in the day.
I ran the L88 cam in 2 of the 396/375 HP cars that I had over the years.

I have had the monte since I was 19 did a frame off back in 2000 and put the 540 in it, purchased the car while I was in the corps in Cali,I did upgrade the rear brakes to a wilwood setup ,car had front disks from GM they always worked great,I also did the brake master cylinder upgrade to a more modern unit, brakes are very nice.

I have two that really hurt but one is with my son. The first is a 1970 Nova 396 SS , the second is a 1957 Chevy two door sedan which I gave him. Bought the 57 in 1976, so it has been in the family for 33 years. He is doing a good job doing a retro restore on it. I had already put the front disc brakes on it and it had a stout 350 with 3 2s and a BW T-10 4 speed, but I got to where I could not work on it do to a few things so I have the GTO and it is a blast with a few bolt ons, oh and lets not forget the 63 Chevy Nova 327 auto.

some times i miss mine. my first fbody was a 78 trans am with a 400 4 speed. i just sometimes miss the old school sound look and feel of the car. but it just sits in the garage since the tranny went out. but yeah sometimes but my z28 is doing me just fine.

Yep, I can barely squeak a 275/60-15 under it if on a 7 inch rim to pull the sidewall in a bit, but it's pretty tight, especially when hauling people in the back. A 255/60-15 fits perfectly though.

ok a voice from the younger generation ( i think i didn't look at any ages). i would say not to sell it but more for a selfish reason. i love the styling of old cars and wish i could buy a trailer queen. but due to going to college it will be acouple years(10-20) before i would be able to by them. sence i have to wait that long im counting on all of you to keep your cars in good shape so when the time comes i can buy a car that is twice as old as i am. so though its selfish i stand by my advice (as much as it counts coming from a less wiser generation lol)

Just put one on the chevelle. Or just do up a 540 big block. I had a 540 in a 69 ss and would drive it 40 miles to the track, run 10.2 all day and drive it home. I kinda wish we hadn't sold it. I miss having that 10 second ride that always got looks and compliments. I still have a 74 camaro with a 350, 01 ws6 ta, and a 57 belair with a 355 with 3x2brl carbs. There all fun to drive and wouldn't give up any of them. But I do like the ls1 swaps and how you get the best of both worlds. The new in the old looks.

I like your F-85 and the LS-1 combo and the very nice covers. In 65 it was the cousin to the GTO. It is a rare car I think only about 22,000 were made, one of my friends mother had one with the V-8 and she took us to school and back every day and we always got her to get on it and it ran real good, a lot of fun. What color are you going to paint her?
