Keep the muscle or sell it?

Hey guys I am not a newbie....just had to re-register as I have not had an LS1 since 2003. Anyway, I miss having a fast car to drive often. I have a 70SS Chevelle with a Merlin 540. Anyway, I am considering selling it and going with a WS6 with a forged motor and an F1 blower. I miss having a car to drive anywhere without fearing someone looking at it wrong or freaking out when looking at the fuel gauge. Anyone else get rid of their muscle car for an LS1?

I sold the white 73 in my Avatar for my 99 z28. No regrets here. I couldnt drive the 73 anywhere but around town due to gears and ridiculously loud exhaust.

Keep the Chevelle! That is one of my favorite muscle cars. Get a different daily driver if you want more excitement more often.

Absolutely not. I would never think of selling my old muscle cars. If I got in a pinch the 4th gens would be the first to go. Sorry 4th gen lovers but they just don't have as much appeal to me.

Not sure what you mean about someone looking at it wrong I drive mine all the time, although they do grab more attention than I care for, but the pleasure of driving it far outweighs anything.
I don't let gas dictate where I drive it either.

If your that concerned about mileage then I would concentrate my efforts on ways to improve it with the current ride. Maybe a tranny swap to a 6 speed conversion,,,,or the tremec TKO-600 is a popular swap in the older stuff right now and with the kits they make they practically install themselves.
I don't believe getting rid of the car is the answer.

I will never get rid of my old Muscle car. I have a 71 SS Elcamino with a built 402 BB. I have to have something old in my garage. I do however have a 2000 SS Camaro that I enjoy as well but I would say to hold on to your Chevelle you will regret selling it.

I wish I never got rid of my 67 SS Chevelle 427 4 speed car. I kick myself in the ass everyday for selling it.

There are a whole lot more 4th gen f-bodies out there than 70 SS Chevelle's. Take your time and save or hell even get a loan to by one but don't sell the old stuff.
2000 SS Camaro Heads, Large cam, Fast 90, 9"w/430's and locker, yada yada yada... you get the picture

people look at you weird??? Maybe cuz your car is way more badass then their gay prius that has about as much hp as my lawnmower. Why would your even think about selling that???? Whats the hp in that SS. Do you not like the handling????

It is about 675hp. Handling is not bad as the complete suspension has been rebuilt and I have an AGR steering box.

What I don't like is classic car insurance is very restrictive. I work at a very secluded place, yet it is not covered for an occasional drive to work. Also if I want to stop for a gallon of milk on the way back from somewhere, it is not covered in a parking lot.

Keep it bro I have a 98 trans am and a 69 bird with a 462 solid roller motor. There is no comparison between the old and new you are talking about 30 years of engineering. the new can be built to be just as fast but cost a ton more, and the ride is better and there are more comforts, but for pure power you cant beat classic american muscle. Since you already have that car then I dont have to tell you, nothing turns more heads, you can have a 9 second WS6 with open headers and the classic will always draw more thumbs up. Also lets be realistic you can get away with a lot of short bursts of speed from say light to light and be safer than you ever could going down the highways trying to top your car out. I know I have both cars. Sell your chevelle and you will regret it, just ask just about any 40-50 year old man.
heres a pic of my two.
