last time i saw it it was pretty straight, been sitting a couple of years now, my buddy lost interest in it, if the floors are good and the trunk i may buy it come spring time, he said he would take 1500 bucks for it.

I would buy it.. Restored or even just correctly fixed up it would easily fetch 10x or more what they're asking for it.
The SBC 327, is a good strong engine..imho

Oh and are you sure it's a 3spd auto, and not a "3 on the tree"?
I can't recall if the 3-speed manual column shifter was a option on those in 66'..

all right guys, here it is, turns out it's a sport coupe and the engine is a 283 not a 327, the body is straight minus the drivers side fender which has a small dent ib it around the headlight area, 2 or 3 spots of rust that are minimal and the hood needs to be replaced, the interior is dhot, will need a complete interior, the pics actually make it look worse than it does in person.

Very cool looking ride with lots of potential. How are the rockers and trunk floor?

rockers are good, rear quarters have been replaced, trunk floor is good, small spots of rust in bottom front fenders, nothing i cant fix at home.

here is the vin number - 164376N145609 and the numbers under the hood are - ST66-16437 TR842-A, the body numbers are N0R91365"paint D-C"
any one know how to decipher all this???

If I had the time, money to put into it, and space for it... I'd buy it

Yea I think I will, my kids are grown and the T/A is pretty close to where I want and I'm not sitting in the house listening to the wife gripe-lol so it will give me something to do.

Arctic White- 01 TA / 06 Duc 749D
For that price you'd be getting a good deal. These are awesome cars with plenty of room to stuff whatever you want in the engine bay. Of course I'm a little biased since I use to have a project 66 Imp. Wound up selling to a friend that eventually stuffed built LS1 i it and took it on the Power Tour.

HA HA LMFAO! yea i think i will get it, will be summer before i take it home though, he will store it for me untill then. i was thinking about a 5.3 or a 6.0, there is a yard down here where i can get the take outs with around 70K or less for 1K to 18K, but i would want to get the tranny as well followed by the ecu and wiring harness. do i need the carbon canister also? i know i will need to upgrade the fuel delivery system too.

rust- 65 Impala SS Convertible
I probably have 40K+ into my 65 impala ss convertible swap. These eat up money like crazy. Mine needed more work than this. I also did a corvette brake swap and an LS swap.

rust- 65 Impala SS Convertible
to reply to the canister question, I dont think so. I used one anyway. I put a tank in mine from a LT1 Impala. It bolted right up, just needed longer tank strap bolts. I also put a new fuel pump in it since the LT1 pump was only supposed to make 40 psi and no the 60 the LS1 was supposed to need. There is a guy with the screen name Kwhizz on chevytalk .com that did one of these.
