    472 caddy in a second gen(73)?

any one ever hear of some one putting a caddy engine in a 2nd gen? more especifically a 472, i can get a great deal on a runnig one with a 400 trans. but im worried about hood clearance and engine mounts.

a 472 caddy in a 73 F-body? Hmmm, well I'd measure everything, if the car has a shaker plan on chucking that, I'd be just as concerned about the width of the block as the height, is it a camaro or firebird? you'd probably save yourself alot of time and money if you just went with a sbc or a real pontiac motor, not to mention I doubt you'll find motor mount adapters for that conversion, you'd have to fab up your own. I've seen it done with a 429 caddy engine. Don't know if deck height is the same on a 472. Aftermarket may make an adapter for the frame mounts. Good luck! It will be a different kinda torque monster for sure.

I'd use the existing 350 and build it up from scratch to be as mild or as wild as you want.

we just finished up a 500" caddy at work. I don't know much about those motors, but the valve covers were gigantic. (might pose some clearance issues, if this is even the same motor) either way, if it's a good enough deal you could try it and if it just wont work sell it to some other sucker!

Deck heighth is not that much you'll be fine. It would be awesome just make sure you have a low 3 or 2 series gear. They hate rpm!! That thing makes almost 500 ft. tq. @ 2200 rpm......
    Can you say tire fryer?
I had a split bumper I bought from some hill billys in Indiana in high school that had a 455 Pontiac in it with a TH400. I blew it up doing donuts...over revving it had a 377 waiting so I didn't give a fuck.
I actually have that on video now that I think about it.
Anyways it would not be that hard of a conversion. If you do a little searching it is a common deal into Chevys.
You put a 150 shot and a 2.73 gear get it to hook that is a 10 second car ALL day.
Don't be afraid of the bottle!!! Be afraid of your tune!!!
