    1941 chrysler with injected 496

I'm building a custom 41 Chrysler with extensive body mods and a stainless steel chassis.

A few pics of the project first and then I'll get to the engine and why I'm posting on the LS1 site.

Here's a shot of how the car looked when I bought it:

This is after a bit of metal pounding. I just love the shape of the teardrop headlights:

I then needed something to hold up the new sheetmetal so I built a stainless steel frame for it. Its not done yet but its getting there:

    Now on to the plan:

I have a GEN VI 454 block. It will get a forged stroker crank to 496 cubes, H beam rods and either 11:1 or 10.5:1 forged pistons.

Cylinder heads are GMPP 12363390 aluminum oval port, 2.25 intakes and 1.88 exhaust valves.

Intake is Edelbrock Pro Flo XT with a 90mm throttle body.

I have a 24X crank reluctor from EFI Connection along with LS2 coils, pigtails, crank sensor and aluminum cap for my Vortec distributor.

I have a stock fuel sender/pump/bucket which I may or may not use with an upgraded pump of coarse.

PCM is a 12200411 from an 01 Savana.

Transmission is a 4L80E with a GearVendors overdrive unit screwed on the back.

Sweet! I am digging the look and plan for this build. Why the Gear Vendors unit with an O/D transmission? Running steep gears in the back?

As for the Gearvendors, it does two things.
It also splits the shifts between 1st and 2nd, 2nd and 3rd, etc. This is in full manual mode only though.
I also plan to take this car for some lengthy cruises so the .59:1 final drive ratio should help out on the highway.
    I have 3:55 gears.
I'm thinking with the fuel managment of the 0411 PCM and tuning, I should be able to have 600 FT/LBS of torque and shoot for 20 MPG on the highway.

Is it possible? I'm not sure. I figured you guys on this site would have a better idea than me.

    Thanks again,
    Pugsy
