i am very well aware of the fact that im way behind schedule!! Everything is back together except for the transmission cooler and we broke a clip on the fuel lines that needs replaced. I just work WAY to damned much to start a project like this. After we do those two things we should be able to start it and pray that it runs.. I think we may have missed a couple sensors along the way but I will find out when we start it since im sure the check engine light will make me well aware of which ones I missed.

just out of curiosity...how difficult is it to re install the engine with the headers on?

we are dropping the lt1 out of my buddy's 95 z memorial weekend, and even though he'll have it out for awhile we were discussing the easiest way to go about doing things. im interested too as i have some MAJOR ls related work ahead of me.

    what was easiest for everyone....?

I'm just busting your balls. I can relate to the work bull crap. I would suggest just taking your time and going over the engine with a fine tooth comb before starting it up to make sure everything is right. It sucks to start one up and then have to still keep working on it. Much nicer to start it and be done with it. Just start at the bottom back of the motor and check over each sensor working your way to the top.

if you want to leave the headers attached, then you'll have to drop the motor from the bottom. you can look over my engine swap page to give you an idea of how to do it. to save some time, you don't have to remove the transmission, spindle and lower control arms from the k-member. i only did it because i was replacing the upper and lower arms.

nope been out of town actually. Having an electrical issue though as of tuesday before I left. Shoul dbe an easy fix, i knew I had to fix a ground and I know I found another one not hooked up and im sure thats all it is. When I turn the key it acts as if the battery is dead and the SES lit is real dim and kinda blinks, also the gauges pulse and do some wierd things and the odometer doesnt display at all. The battery has a full charge on it though. Also the lights on the gauge cluster (for the turn signals) act real strange they kinda stay on and pulse all funny. Other than that stuff though is shoul dbe ready to roll here soon. I have to redo the shifter cable because I dont think it goes into park all the way (actually I KNOW it doesnt) and hook up the exhaust but that is about it. YAY! maybe be good by the end of the week or so I hope.

ok i came in here to find out what's / where the best place to put the bolts in to take the motor out from the top. i am in the middle of this and spend over 8 hours today digging into the car i have the block, the heads and the valley cover on it at the present time, i will be working on this tomm. night hopefully i can get it out i'll have about three hours.

so which or where do i put the bolts to get it out?

biggest problems i ran into was really not know all neede to come out at first, then realized i need everything off . the top trans bolt sucked ass, the number 8 header bolt and the number 4 header bolt. where my only reall problems beside breacking the trans loose from the block. not really to bad just a lot of piece/ parts to come off and go back on.

i have the same problem pn time i have tues night and anytime after 8 pm sat/sunday, that is really about it till june 8th when the wifey is off work for the summer.

i just can't wait to get it started.

sidenote, i need some 38 lb injectors, a 4,000 stall and a in tank fuel pump for an 98 ss if anyone has some extra parts around. let me know thank sjeremy

if you are referring to the bolts to hook up the hoist to the engine we had used the old head bolts I believe to pull the engine with.
