Whats this noise?

Ive heard this noise on both of my LS1 cars. I know its not piston slap, ive heard that before. I kinda sounds like something inside the motor is lose. Its a rattling sound, and is louder when the motor is cold. On my first car i just figured it was because of the miles, but the one i have now only has 20,000 on it. Anyone one know what this is and if its normal?

My 2001 LS1 with 57K miles on it has a slight chattering noise when its cold but you have to either have the hood open or under the car with the engine running. My buddys 2002 T/A has the same sound. Are oil pressures and water temps good? I would not worry much about it.

Ya all the temps and pressure is good. My trans am only did when cold like yours. But this car does it even when its warm.

does it sound like some nuts and bolts rattling on some metal? because I have that sound....

Ya thats exactly what it sounds like actually. Today though a ran half a can of seafoam through the engine and the noise is completely gone. Along with other improvements to the way it runs. Good stuff
