    1) this is true as there are changes in harness/ sensor position and fuel rail/injectors.

however speartec and such sell adapters for like 200 bucks to make swaping a gen IV into a gen III car. but i understand where you are coming from

    2)lq4s are aluminum

    3) shit you cant beat that price besides the fact that with your 02 ...you are in a nut shell paying $3500 for a set of 243s and a block

in your case you might as well buy the ls6 as your goals aren't extravagant..but the nice thing about buying a ls2 or gen IV ..is if you ever decide you want more...you have a platform that can do 414+ ci and 500+ to the floor in N/a ...something a ls1/ls6 can not do ....safely
what changes would be required to install a gen iv in a 02 t/a? there is a engine i would like to put in,this one...

go with a 400+ci stroker its cheaper now than later. like my pappy always said there is no replacement for displacement! lol i know i wished i would have spent an extra 1500 on the bottom end! but hey it runs good for a 346!

With the money you have I would do this change. Gmperformanceparts.com has a LS3 6.2L E-Rod crate engine, complete with ECM and Harness for about $8400. The engine is a 430hp Vette engine that gets good gas millage and give you all the power for the street and maybe the strip. I saw the installation on PowerBlock TV and the engine produced 489hp more than advertised. Part number19244805.
