what does "forged" mean?

I know that forged internals can take more abuse, but i'm a newb on this stuff. What is done to the parts that makes them more resilient to more power or boost?

Forged is formed out of a solid piece of metal. Cast is liquid metal poured into a mold. Forged is much stronger than cast.

So a forged part would be "sculpted" out of a solid piece of metal instead of liquid metal solidifying in a mold. Gotcha. A stock ls1 has no forged parts right?

forged is hammered into shape... the deformations into the shape causes the "particles" to latch onto each other... yes it is better...

there is alot to it... cold worked... hot worked...
