Maybe you guys can help me some with my cam choice. I am putting an 02 LS1 in my 70 vette. I have a set of take off 500 mile LS6 heads and I plan on upgrading springs. I have true dual 2 1/2 exhuast, 3.36 rear gear, have a ported polished TB and MAF. I will run Z06 exhaust manifolds till I get it sorted out then probably have to fab some headers for LS to vette swap.

I would like to get 400 RWHP and TQ to begin with if this is even possible. The car is a weekend car, car show, cruiser. I do drive the car on the interstate some and 80 MPH is around 2100 RPM right now. So I would like the car to still handle this fairly well.

Here is a pic of my vette. I have been working on it since 99 and felt like it was time to ratchet it up a few notches.

Help me out here or I can start another thread if needed.

Its more than possible its just how wild a cam do you want to use? I'm obviously not a cam guru but have friends putting down well over that with a LS1

I don't want to get too wild. I would like the cam to sound off. I don't mind a nice lope. I most likely will not be doing too much drag racing at the track. I might have a spirited romp through the gears, at least once or twice when I take the car out.

above cam is what i suggest whenever somebody wants good power and great driveabilty.

with ls6 heads, youll be at the 400 rwhp mark with headers.

also is youre car an auto or manual?
if an auto, youll need a 3000-3500 rpm stall that will match up perfectly with above cam.

First off I'm going to be using a "Good" tuner that know's his Sh*t. Second, I'm throwing the bottle in the mix. Going to do a 100 shot, starting in secound gear. Lastly I'm changing out my gears to 3.73's.

Gears is probably the biggest culprit in you plight with that size cam you should have 3.73's at least.

I knew that going into it. I came across a great deal and couldn't pass it up. I haven't really drove the car much this year. Maybe 2k miles, have been saving on gas to pay for other mods. So I'm sure I'll want to drive the sh*t out of her when I get her back.

My car is manual so I think it will handle that without any problems. Thank for the recommendation. I was thinking about the G5X2 before I asked any help from others. What does the group think about this cam with my car?

I was going to do that too but all these cam threads and seeing what everyone else is making for power and its making me want to get in on some of that power. So now I am on the hunt for something a little more.

Well there are a lot of good cams out there for more power. I got this one because it came with the Z06 heads I bought.
