What are 317 heads and will they fit a ls1 ?

Green- 1995 Z28 w/ LS1 Swap
Off a LQ9. There the same as 243 heads w/ larger (72cc) to lower compression for FI
Heads/Cam/Intake/Stall.

From how I understand it to work...and I'm no expert...
317 heads are designed for a 4.000" bore motor. Your LS1 is a 3.900" bore motor. Therefore, you'll need a thicker gasket on your heads.
Stock heads are 67cc and you are going to a 72cc. This is going to drop your stock 10.5:1 compression down some.
As far as power increase? Don't know. Typically you want to bump compression up if you're staying N/A.

From what Ive read most say if your not going to go forced go w/ the 243's....they say even after milling you'll still be better off w/ the 243's

How about 862 aluminum heads ? I heard they were good for bumping up compression.
