    want 350 -400 rwhp

Hey guys I`m fairly new to the LS1 I hope to have a WS6 here in a few months is there a way to get 350-400 rwhp with out spending to much money? I`m thinking like $2500 Ihave heard just adding a cam will increase rwhp on an LS1 and does anyone know what shops does mods for the LS1 around the Texas area or anywhere in the south?
    anyway thanks for any info..

350-400 is going to be a snap get all the bolt ons and tune and you should be right at 350. Add a mild cam and/or heads and bam 400.

Pesonally I would go H/C if you want the power all the time or nitrous if you just want stock power levels normally and the bottle for playtime. The heads make a good bit of difference over the cam-only route and sometimes you don't even have to have as big of a cam. The only down side to the H/C setup is you are going to be pushing the $2500 if you take care of all of the little stuff. If you decide to go the H/C route I would recommend Patriot heads and a cam in whatever grind you choose. I happen to like Lunati but with the heads and almost any cam you would push close to 400 RWHP.

if you hit 400hp what do you think your gas mileage would do? (assuming bolt ons and a reasonable cam)

<--- At 342/355 with mods in sig. Not difficult or expensive...But to keep getting higher the price will be exponentially higher... Suspension is next.. then Cam.. maybe heads too if I can afford it.

I have well over 400 RWHP in my WS-6 and I get almost 20 MPG. If I kept my foot out of it I could get 20-21 MPG. Keep in mind that is with 4.11's and mostly around town driving. If I play with it a lot it can drop to around 16 or 17.

It all depends on the cam. Go with a mild cam, like a stock LS6, and your gas mileage will stay about the same. Go for something radical, with a lot of duration, ect, and you're going to get a pretty noticeable drop in fuel economy.

Full bolt ons and a tune should actually give you about the same or better gas mileage than stock (if you keep your foot out of it ), and heads shouldn't make much difference either, since they just allow for better airflow. The cam you choose is what will make or break you.

I made 359rwhp and 365rwtq with Hooker LTs, SLP LM1, LS6 Intake, P&P TB, SLP Lid, and a dyno tune. Cost me around $1200 bucks. You can go beyond 400rwhp with $2500 bucks. Next is a 125 shot.

you can buy a good cam, intake, lid, long tubes headers, and a decent exhaust from the classified sections for well under $2000. then add a little extra for a good tune. with that setup, you'd probably be around the 385-395rwhp area. gas mileage, I put down about 415-420rwhp & get 20mpg on the highway and about 16 average.

Yeah there are plenty of shops that would love to take your money, cost varies greatly among them. Your best bet is finding someone in your area that knows these cars and will only charge you 30 bucks an hour for labor. I payed only 350 to have my long tubes, cam, pushrods, and valve springs installed. The easy stuff i do myself.

try the classifeds section here on LS1.com, or also you can try the classifieds section on ls1tech.com they also have some good deals. about being legal in California, do they do automotive inspections? because, long tube headers are illegal for all of us (it moves the cats, see federal government ruling).

I agree with the other guys, best bet is to find someone who has done work on these LS1's and talk to them. I believe if you done a forum search you could probably find someone talking about shops, who specialize in f-bodies, around Texas. I'm not from the area, but there are tons of guys down there with f-bodies.

Getting to 350 rwhp is really easy, it is after that. more money needs to be spent. I am in the 340+ rwhp area and only have a K&N FIPK, LT headers, catback, home ported throttle body and this is with a A4 with no good tuning, just a handheld tuner. Now I am going to the next step and getting a bigger cam and possible heads, plus a real tune...trying to keep my car feeling like stock during normal driving and going for 400whp. I think I could pull out 350whp with a really good tune now.

If your an M-6 your not gonna need heads to get to 400, i did it with bolt ons and TSP's 228R Cam on 114 the car idles fine most of the time.
