Flowmaster catback (I know they are not the most popular but I love the sound) and a K&N FIPK. Also married and on a tight budget... what combo would be the best? prices?

well if you want heads/ cam you will also to need to get supporting mods such as headers. If you do bolt-ons and a heads/ cam package you will be in the 400-450rwhp range depending on how aggressive the cam is and what quality of heads you buy.
Our sponsons can find you a good deal. The best heads/ package would be wit afr heads. AFR heads and a cam will run you about 3k for parts. Then you still need to buy al lthe little things like a timing chain, oil pump, etc.

yes, an LS6 intake mainfold will really help a lot with a cam.

youre car is an auto, a stall converter is the best possible bolt on for an automatic car.
you can easily shave .6 tenths with a converter like a tci 3000 streetfighter.
next get headers and a cam like the 224/224 or the 228/228, either cam will work great with a stall in the 3000-3500 range.2000 nhra edition formula
a few bolt ons, 379 rwhp

What do you think a good stall converter will set me back including install? would it be best to do it all at one time, or in stages?

if you can do everything at once, that would be best.
a tci stall, shift kit and transoil cooler are about 550. tuning for the converter and install will be about 500.
now if you do everything at once, you wont have to retune with the other add ons.
i have a very tame set up and with slicks, ill hit 11s
