Valve train setup mishap
I ordered my parts according to the information provided by the Comp cam tech and the specs found in any compcam catalog.
I purchased a 54-428-11 cam and was told that I should use the 1.72 Ultra gold #19024-16 rocker arms, standard length #7955-16 hi-tech pushrods and short lift #875-16 lifters.
Well come to find out upon openning the package and assembly the rocker arms are non-adjustable and push the pushrods too far into the lifters, causing what appears to me as the valves opening. I have been inofrmed I either need to pull the lifers for regular ones or get short pushrods.
Has anyone ran into this setup? I am going to have my pushrod length measured next week, I am just looking for any knowledge towards this issue.

the 230 232 571 573 cam and standard 7.4 length pushrods should work. The short travel lifters are only (according to comps site) to prevent pumping up during high RPMs - there is no mention that they are not standard length. You could have gone with stock lifters and rockers with the lift on that cam. What springs are you using btw?
I would measure the pushrod length with a checker, and as a quick check set the cam on the base circle and tighten the rockers - you should have .060 to .100 preload from 0 lash (about 3/4 to 1 turn).

see there is a difference in the lifters, these short lifters only require .005" of preload. I tried running standard length pushrods but they are pushing cylinder one open when it is at top dead center.
I am running 26921 dual springs.
The other problem is that the ultra gold 1.72 rockers are not adjustable, they just have regular studs.

If that's the case, then measure your current preload, subtract to get to .005 and order pushrods that length or return the golds and get adjustable rockers.
