    Third Gen Muscle ?

Im looking at some superchargers and I like the top mounted style but I see some with dual carburetors, is this gonna get me more hp or just suck up more gas? I recently got a 1985 Z28 and I just stripped the motor out looking to rebuild with forged internals and an eagle crank but i need to pick my cam and heads so maybe the Supercharger is getting ahead of me but the dual carbs has me wondering, any info will help

as far as the dual quads, unless your pulling some serious displacement 400ci or better, and a mean, agressive punch you in the face type cam.... your engine would be greatly REDUCED in power by just way to much air, not allowing the carb to properly meter the fuel.

Please note that a 383 , while bored .030" over stock, has to be "stroked" to 3.75" (400 crank) to achieve 383 cid (actually 382.67 cid).

I feel that you would be well suited with an edelbrock performer rpm dual plane air gap intake, and a 550-650 cfm carb. The dual quads would be at a minimum 450cfm times two =900cfm=way to much carb... you probably wouldn't even be able to get it to run.
The dual quads are either used for show, or for HIGH about 750 plus horse engines...
and as 67camaro said... you need a 400 crank...
can you get us the number on top of your bellhousing of the block?

Isn't an 85 block pre roller and pre 1 pc rear main seal? Or are you using the original block?

They came in a 305 or a 350, i think the irocs were typically the 305 but the z/28's were 350's

It is possible some one put a 350 in the car, but not GM. the 80's was bad due to the gas crisis, and enviroment issues in the late 70's... The engines started to get small, some of us thought that muscle was going to die. Thank god it didn't but heres a link on your car

Ok guys I was in High school in the Mid eighties and the base engine in a 3rd gen Z was a 305 the 350 wasn't available in the either the Camaro or Firebird till 1987.
If you can't find the numbers pull one of the heads and check the cylinder bore, 350's will be 4.00".
