Texas Speed Head and Cam Kit

Due to recent funding issues, I've been forced to tone it back from the TrickFlow Head and Cam Package to a budget Head Cam Package from Texas Speed Inc. I now have a few questions...

    1. I want to get the Magic Stick 3 Cam, but I'm not sure if that will be too big of a cam for the 5.3L Stage 2.5 Heads...am I correct or will this work?

    2. What's the difference between the 5.3L and LS6 heads? Should I get the LS6 heads since I want a bigger cam to avoid predetonation?

From what I've read, the MS3 will work with the 5.3 heads. The MS4 would require flycutting the pistons with those heads. The LS6 heads will work with either.

Thanks...I think the 5.3 Heads and the MS3 will be what I'm going with.

Get a custom grind around the MS3 if that's what u want...? I'm no expert, but it seems that a custom grind would get you more of the characteristics you want, even if they vary little from the off the shelf grind.

Call them up and ask tell them that you want something like the ms3 and let them know your other mods, expectations, and what you're planning for the car. they may jst say the off the shelf is fine, or they ight be able to tweak the specs a little bit to get you a custom grind for more driveability or power here/there, etc.

Good idea, I'll call them monday and see what they can do for me.

Does it cost extra to do a custom grind?

Their website does not show a price difference, but I've heard it is a touch more.

Buy the TFS heads, and just wait for the cam money to come... you will not regret TFS heads they are the best flowing head of any LS heads...
