Suggest a cam suitable for DD and weekend spray.
I am having a really hard time choosing a cam for my application. Naturally, I am in want of the MS4, but for my application I just dont see it as practical.
Here is the setup:
Stock LS1 block and heads with LT's, off road Y, lid, 4.10 gears, and 100-150 shot plate system.
Am I correct in thinking that anything 112LSA or below is not going to be to my benefit on spray? I still want a good lope though? HELP!!! I just cant figure it out...

i have a Comp 224/224 .581/.581 on a 112lsa. good for a DD but i'm actually looking to go bigger. great under the power curve and TQ to match. hard cam to pass up, but by todays standards it's for a small DD cam. i would suggest a cam in the 228 range or a TSP Torquer v.2.

still not sure of your total goals (rwhp/rwtq numbers, track or a street car, etc) with getting a cam, but you would need to upgrade springs (dual), bases, retainers, heavy duty timing chain, Ls6 oil pump, etc that a cam upgrades requires. good luck...2018 CTS-V: °°668rwhp/658rwtq°°

Thanks. Yeah, I already have Patriot duals and comp pushrods. Plan on getting a tune. I just want a really powerful(like 400+RWHP) cam that will still work with spray without wasting half the shot!

I always suggest mine cause I like it, 228/228, .580/.580, 114. Not a real big lope but enough to tell you have a cam. Great power all the way through, easy to drive. Haven't sprayed it but have been told it would do well with spray.

thats not to good of a nitrous cam. he will want more duration on the exhaust than the intake as well as the bigger lift on the exhaust when you have a nitrous app. You have alot moregasses comign in and dont want the engine to haveto work harder/ waste horsepowr on trying to expend that added exhaust. out of those for example you would want either the R1 or G1 signiture series.

For what you want to spray, don't worry about the spray. Unless you plan on a BIG shot (250 and up) pick your cam based on your NA needs. Personally I would look at TSP 233/239 cam, if I were to go cam only. Or contact Vengance racing in Atlanta, he has been getting great results from his cams lately.

Thanks everyone for your input. I was pretty certain that I was wanting a cam in the 230's duration and low 600's lift. About that time, i came across a used MS3....so be it! The cam is shipping out today. I am stoked. Pretty much the perfect cam for my 400+RWHP and low 600's lift needs. Works well with spray also, from what I hear. I figured go big or go home!

Lol, no I have hope that I can have it tuned well enough to be a daily driver!
Actually, I only drive the car about 6mon out of the year and work is only a couple miles away, so I should be ok.
Yeah, Ive got the Patriot duals, pushrods and pushrods, with a new crank bolt, waterpump gaskets, and timing cover on the way from Thunder.
I think Ive got it all?
