stroker kit
I own a 01 trans am and i am considering putting a strocker kit in it but i heard you could only bore an ls1 block .010 without sleeveing it, curious if this is true and what other problems i could run in to?

i dunno what the specs are on how much you can go..
but if u are in there with the engine out...u might as well go with more than ten...make the time worth it..

A stroker kit won't require a bore. Just a hone.
Stroke a stock bored LS1 to 4.00" and you get a 381.88 cubic inch motor.

I believe a 383 is as large as you can go with a stock block.

get a bigger crankshaft and/or bore your cylinders out (in simple terms, make your cylinder diameters wider and have a longer crank to increase displacement, but you dont have to do both)
yes its expensive. couple grand for real kits. i would only have a shop do it cuz u have to machine the block for the extra length of the crankshaft and you have to bore the cylinders perfectly without screwin it up. one little slip up and you need a new block
its an expensive project, but causes massive increase of hp
someone correct me if im wrong on any of that

I can't imagine you would need to take more than that off unless you tossed a rod or had something stuck in a cylinder.

Well.. mine has exhaust leaks up the ass.. (lol) the idle is still off, and it wouldn't shift into 3rd... even with lifting... so I was clearing the 1/4 in 2nd!
