StockLS1heads? W/stroke
My Ls1 has the original heads and headers. Recently upgraded .25 longer rods,
bumped the camb up to the 2nd bigest size. did the 383 crank shaft. Also rockers and springs. 42 lb injectors. honed throtle to 77 mm. Got the hp tunners and I have yet to DYNO the car and write a profile.
ANyway. People tell me the stock heads and headers are very good breathing. How true do you guys think it is? Can I get a sugnificant increase in power that way? Cause everyone says something different. Does anyone on this site know for sure? Any similar setups out there?

1. you should not run stock heads or headers on a stroker motor!
2. 2nd biggest camb? Im sorry, but Im not following
Is this a new block or a rebuilt one? I dont think you can just get a stroker crank and swap it out for the stocker...

1 When I was considering different heads the machinist ran the #'s and said the headers and heads were "good breathing". I dont know?
2 2ND BIGGEST CAMB. The camb ratio can only get one size bigger. I cant remember the exact specs I have.
3 This is the STOCK block.

please tell me what a camb is. are you refering to a camshaft (cam)? If so, there is no 2nd biggest...there are literally hundreds of cams you can run with all sorts of different specs. Your machinest must've done some bad math because your exhaust isnt going to flow well at all using the stock manifolds! Stock 853 casting heads arent going to flow well enough for the added stroke either. You can run them both, dont get me wrong, but you defeat the purpose of going with the 383 and not maximizing your power.

Can you make the LS1 a 383 with just stroke?

I was doing the math..
3.898 bore (stock ls1 bore)
4.0 stoke= 381.88
3.905 bore
4.0 stroke= 383.25
so with boring the cylinders and adding a 4" crank, yes. I think on a 6.0 liter block the bore is 4.0 with a stock crank (3.622)= 364 cubes.
and then 4.03bore x 3.622 stroke =369.xx (370)

I could have done that, but I was too lazy.
I still would like to know what a 'camb' is.
I am assuming it is a cam.
Also assuming a shop that doesn't know much about the LS1 did the work.
Thread owner...please correct me if I am wrong.

Yes guys I will deffenetly get the camb ratio's. I am going to Dyno it Monday. It was infact dyno'd when it was built at 349 to the wheels. I cant remember the Torqe. I think it hit 349 at about 5600RPM.
Well we will see on monday when its fully tuned what it puts down. Although I am afraid that ninoborn99 is right about those heads. As far as exhaust restriction. Well if so what do you guys think I should do? go with full size AFR's. Or work on the stock's. How much do I need min on the intake and runners?

ok, ill quit being modest. Yes I am right. those heads are a restriction..i believe the stock cc's are 66ccs. the runners are like 205 or 210..dont remember exactly. Im sure a stg 2 head would work well on your setup, but a stg 3 would flow much better because of the added cubes. Id suggest going with lt's and changing them out biyearly for smog. 1 3/4s are the norm, but if you can afford the stepped headers, go with those. Im not sure how much difference there is in price. AFR's or ETPs are the two leading heads, but with that comes a price. TEA, Patriot, and TSP all offer a great budget head. If we knew what cam you had and your power goals, we could help a bit more.
