So I rebuilt my 98 LS1...
So I bought a 98 z28 6sp with 40K.
2 weeks later I managed to throw a rod..
I got the motor rebuilt and added some goodies..
now it has: SLP LS6 intake manifold, SLP Lid/K&N Filter,
descreened MAF, ported throttle body, "stage 2" head port,
Hotcam 219/228 .525 .525 112, long tube headers w/ORY,
Magnaflow catback, and I had my PCM tuned by pcmforless.com because the closest tuner to me is like 300 miles and I wanted to break my motor in before tuning it, and didnt wanna throw another rod or something like that on the highway..
and so the story continues, I get my motor back in my car.. drive it for
2 days.. smack a deer going 110.. there was no damage to the motor, no fluid leaks.. AC and radiator fine.. full coverage.. SLP ultra z hood going on next week..
but now for some reason the car runs like ass.. idles fine and everything, just seems rather sluggish when I get on the gas, and doesnt seem to sound as good, even with my cutout open.. I dont know if its related to the fresh rebuilt or the accident...
any ideas?

Smacked a deer at 110 and your car was salvageable? I'd love too see some pics, i know back home i hit on going 55 and it totaled my old truck out.
Double check everything in the area the body shop would have been working in.
Any codes?

You probably just need a real tune with that comination. Any mail order tune has to be conservative enough to not make you burn holes in the pistons. If the engine is broken in, you should probably go ahead and drive the miles to the nearest tuner shop that can set it up using a wideband oxygen sensor.
For the same money you can buy HPTuners setup with the extended IO and a wideband sensor, and do it yourself. That way, you can tune it for driveability and mileage, too, something that most dyno shops don't have time for.
That is, if you don't mind learning a lot more about your engine than you ever thought you wanted to know!

If that was from hitting a deer at 110 miles per hour, then you are very lucky, the deer must have gone over the car. Maybe it was 110 KM/Hr? Either way, the height of an adult deer puts their body mass right in line with the windshield. Impact can be very bad!Last edited by NinerSevenTango; 07-18-2006 at 04:35 AM.
