Question Shorty header Street cam besides CheaTR cam?

I'm looking for a cam with overlap in the -4 to -9 degree range that will work good with stock heads and shorty headers, this is my DD and normally see's 2-4k rpm and a couple time a day see's 6k. I'm not looking for a completely stealth cam, I'd still like to hear it a little bit.

Maybe something in the range of a 220/228 115 lsa...?

I look forward to your experienced input.

    Thanks!

    Current mods:
BBK SSI, 85mm tb, slp lid, electric water pump w/180 stat, 10% UD pulley, stock heads, YT ultralite rockers, shorty headers, Random Technology Y-pipe & cats., bullet muffler dumped before axle, LS7 clutch & aluminum flywheel stock 3:42 rear gears, heavy full option car +150 to 180 lbs stereo.

checkout ebay, do a search for > LS1 cam (fresh copy). the guy does regrind cams and sells them for $125 +$19 shipping.
he has GM hot cam grinds avalable with your choice of 112, 114, or 116lsa....... I just ordered my second cam from him and was very happy with the first onr, just wanted to go bigger.

I think with what you want to do you'd be happy and Calli legal with the larger Hot cam on a 114lsa and going through him you'll save some coin

Well a 224/224 cam on a 114 is -8 overlap same as your second cam but I think the 224 will make morepower in most instances...........

I'm pretty sure that a 224/224 114 lsa is -4.00 Degrees of Overlap, but I could be wrong.

So you think this cam will work better with shorty headers than a 222-228, or 224-228 on a 114 lsa?

I know someonbe who has a224 cam and stock exhaust manifolds and passed smog put the cheap ass has not gotten a tune so I don't know the numbers. I can't imagine that would be the best cam especially since it can't breathe with shorties.

    SOM
    1998 T.A.

    Overlap formula:

Add the intake and exhaust durations
    Divide the results by 4
    Subtract the LSA
    Multiply the results by 2

    or

Add IVO + EVC if you know it.....

    224+224 = 448
    448 divided by 4 = 112
    112 - 114 = -2
    2x -2 = -4

You are right. Apparently math and Heinekin is not a good mix for me
