    Roller cam bearings

Has any one put roller cam bearings in? I went to install cam bearings and they don't fit. Don't know if the block I got is machined for roller bearings. Does anyone have bearing housing I.D. for roller bearings? Numbers I came up with are position 1&5 2.343" position 2&4 2.327" position 3 2.347". Any help is greatly appreciated.

The standard cam bearings slide into bores with my fingers. Curious as if there are any other than standard available. Part numbers I have are cle-sh18145

    strokersonoma,
There are 2 sets of cam bearings available for the LSx motors. The first design (1997-2002) used a housing bore for 1 & 5 cam bearings of 2.3260"/2.3280" (min/max) and the 2 & 4 measured2.3161"/2.3181", while the second design (2004-2007) used a 1 &5bore of 2.3460"/2.3480" and 2 & 4 measured2.3260"/2.3280". 2003 motors need to be checked as it was the changeover year and both were used.
    First design uses CLE-SH1814S
    Second design uses CLE-SH1995S
Both sets are currently only available in standard size.
It sounds like you have the second design.

Thanks. I talked to the tech line for Clevite and he told me about the block update. He gave me the updated part number. I called GM and they didn't have any info about the cam bearing bore size, imagine that. New bearings are already in.

Yes roller bearings are out there for cams, have been for many years. Mostly used in high end builds. Cam bore has to be bored to use them.
