    removing crank gear

    doing heads/cam swap. bought ls2 timing set, new cam is in and ready to put timing chain back on but im not sure how to take off the crank gear any suggestions?

    you'll need a gear puller (might have to grind the tips of the puller down to get it to fit behind the gear)
    put your ctanl bolt in so yiu don't hurt the threads in thr end of the crank

    They are both right. I also have a LS2 timing set. I might be reusing my crank gear.

    I'm still using my stock ls1 timing set......isnt the ls2 a double rollers? I could be wrong, but I think it is

    No, it's not, just stronger.

    LS1 Timing Chain is on the top...LS2 Chain is on the bottom:

    Yea the chain itself is stronger, I dont know if the gear itself is actually proven to be stronger. The chain should be replaced IMO with the LS2 during cam swap. If you have the cash, Katech C5 chain.

    Never replace just the chain. Always replace it as a unit. This is your timing you are talking about here. Why risk it?

    i agree, change it ! mine was a bitch as well but i got it off. put a little heat on it
