    Regrind Cams

On Ebay, they offer a reground GM Hot cam, cheap. The price makes me nervous, is a reground cam a disaster in a box?

I have been running one for 6 months without any issues....just make sure to grab some ls6 springs also ($60). $160 for 25whp you cant go wrong.

    *edit*

Oh, in before 20 people bash on hotcams....

Does any other user besides me notice that there are basically about 20 threads in each section that just keep getting repeated over and over?

Harley, definitely nothing personal here, but saying it's $160 for 25whp is saying that your time is worth virtually nothing.

The Hot cam is disliked because it possibly produces the lowest numbers of any non-OEM grind on average; well that I have seen anyway. It makes some sound, but that is about it. If going through the time-consuming process of cam swapping (springs, ugh) I wouldn't want to have something that makes half of what another grind could...

I didn't think this was a repeat of the which cam question. I was asking if a particular cam, that was cheap, was durable. My question revolved around the viability of a regrind, not the suitability of a GM Hotcam. I am aware of its numbers, I just didn't want to buy a POS that would die easily. Thanks though. I wonder, are you this helpful on a mail order tune?

Also to note, I asked specifically about Ebay, hoping that someone had some experience with the purchase.

I have a reground derivative of the hotcam, 226/235 550/550 114LSA, and I have aboutt 10,000 miles on it with no problems... had to go with 7.450 rods. other than that.. depends on the person regrinding I guess... I bought mine from a member here.
