Rebuild at 64k?
I was wondering if I should do a slight rebuild (like piston rings) on my ls1 short block. It has 64K, and will have a completely new valvetrain. I have asked myself how long do I want this motor, how often will it be drivin, things like that. It will be a track car (once a year if that) but mostly a street car. Would it be worth it to put in new rings? If I do anything to get a huge amount of power, I will get the 6.0L block. So what do you guys think?
My mods will be, bigger cam with correct valvetrain upgrades, maybe ls6 heads, long tubes, ls6 intake, throttle body upgrade, and no boost or nitrous.
So basically "bolt-ons". Heads and cam.

NAH...if anything I'd replace the rod bolts with ARP bolts. If that.

well if i was to run trough my bottom end and not plan to boost..definately rod bolts and high vol oil pump,ls2 timing chain, and have you ever seen the motor running or did you buy it as a bottom end...remember some ls1 have ring problems.just get the bottom end freshened up but use the stock pistons, rods, and crank..you would shit your pants if it was put together to find a cylinder leaking.

If your going to take the time to do rings, might as well do the cam and everything else you'd want to do at the same time also, so you don't have to do it all over again.
